2020 Will Be Another Election for the History Books

President Trump’s reelection campaign is off to an auspicious start. The enormous turnout and unbridled enthusiasm of supporters at his kickoff rally in Orlando are a sure sign that the MAGA movement will be an even more decisive factor in the 2020 election than it was in 2016.

The Amway Center, where the rally was held, holds 20,000 people—but that wasn’t enough space to accommodate even one-fifth of the 120,000 Trump supporters who requested a ticket. Thousands of them watched the rally on big screen televisions outside the venue after seating reached capacity.

Even by the standards of Trump rallies, which are well-known for their huge attendance, the turnout was impressive.

The crowd didn’t stop in Orlando, though. In addition, 700 “MAGA meet-ups” hosting 12,000 attendees around the country were scheduled to watch this major milestone for President Trump and America.

In 2016, Donald Trump’s rallies were perhaps the most obvious indication that he was leading a popular movement that would turn conventional wisdom on its head and deliver a stinging rebuke to the corrupt political establishment in the Washington swamp. The polls utterly failed to capture this phenomenon, and the political prognosticators in the media almost universally scoffed at the notion that Trump could defeat Hillary Clinton, the Democrats’ pre-anointed candidate.

Now, some of the same pundits who underestimated the President’s popularity in the last election are saying that his incumbency will prevent him from making the same outsider appeal in 2020. The incredible turnout at the Orlando rally, however, demonstrates that the people who elected President Trump in 2016 are, if anything, even more devoted to him this time around.

That shouldn’t be terribly surprising, of course, because Donald Trump has spent the past two and a half years delivering exactly what his MAGA supporters were expecting when they sent him to the White House.

From his very first days in office, for instance, the President has been implementing the America First trade policy that he promised on the campaign trail, using targeted counter-tariffs to confront trade cheaters such as China while also persuading America’s partners and allies to negotiate new trade agreements that treat American workers fairly.

President Trump has also delivered historic middle-class tax cuts, eliminated the onerous “individual mandate” from Obamacare, and begun building the border wall that we need in order to address the growing humanitarian and security crisis on the southern border.

“Our economy is the envy of the world; perhaps the greatest economy we’ve had in the history of our country,” the President pointed out in Orlando. “And as long as you keep this team in place … our future has never looked brighter or sharper.

“The American Dream is back,” he added. “It’s bigger and better and stronger than ever before.”

Moreover, as the President pointed out in Orlando, he’s accomplished all of that despite a relentless obstructionist opposition party, a deep state conspiracy that sought to oust him from office, and the most hostile press ever faced by an American president.

Through it all, President Trump has remained committed to following through for the men and women who placed their trust in him back in 2016. The incredible turnout at his reelection campaign kickoff in Orlando makes it clear that they appreciate what he’s done for them so far, and that they’re excited to keep the MAGA revolution going strong for another four years.
