Silent Majority Winning the Culture War

Forget what you’ve read. Every part of the media’s narrative on the culture war is wrong.

The Silent Majority stands with President Trump.

The protestors may seem like a majority because we see them — not the silent majority — on the news. But they represent a very tiny minority. The vast majority of Americans don’t want police defunded, or our national monuments torn down.

They see what’s going on as dangerous and destructive. If anything, they want it stopped.

Nevertheless for the past month and a half, every establishment news outlet in the country has been peddling the absurd fantasy that widespread riots, looting, violence, and the deliberate destruction and “dismantling” of American history are somehow broadly popular.

They’ve even tried to portray the president as a villain for vowing to protect our country’s history, heritage, values, governing institutions, and private property.

The truth of the matter, however, is that the American people as a whole are outraged not by President Trump’s full-throated defense of America, but rather by the left’s attempts to dismantle our nation. Despite years of bad-faith attempts by open racists to rewrite American history into a racial morality play, Americans who have spent the past few months watching “peaceful protesters” vandalize and destroy our monuments and violently assault anyone who tries to stop them are not ready to accede to the demands of a deranged radical fringe.

“Do you approve or disapprove of the removal of historic monuments and statues because certain individuals or groups find them offensive?” a recent Democracy Institute/Sunday Express poll asked. Only 15% approved, while 74% want America’s history left alone.

When the polling asks about specific monuments, it becomes even more clear that President Trump is on the winning side of this culture war. The tiny minority of anti-American radicals and their allies in the multi-billion dollar news industry do not speak for the broad majority of American citizens.

Democrats and journalists told us that Donald Trump’s appearance at Mount Rushmore, the iconic monument to some of America’s greatest presidents, was a “celebration of white supremacy” held in front of a “racist”  monument situated on “stolen land” that had to be “blockaded” to prevent the president of the United States from addressing the American people on our Independence Day.

Yet, a mere 17 percent of Americans think Mount Rushmore should be closed or changed in any way. Fully three-quarters of us believe the famous monument should be left just as it is, according to a recent Rasmussen poll. The Democracy Institute survey specifically asked whether Americans agreed with The New York Times‘s implication that Mount Rushmore is “racist.” Only 15% agreed, while 77% rejected the notion.

What of George Washington, the father of our nation, and Thomas Jefferson, the author of our Founding creed? If we were to take the word of The Washington Post and The New York Times, Americans are ready to dump these old, dead slave owners and replace them with George Floyd. In reality, overwhelming majorities of Americans want statues and memorials honoring our Founding Fathers to be left right where they are.

By now it should be obvious that the media will say or do anything they think will hurt our nation’s 45th commander in chief. They even tried to convince us that our President’s Independence Day address was “dark” and “divisive,” when in reality it was among the most uplifting, unifying, patriotic, and heartfelt speeches of his entire presidency.

Central to the media’s framing of the recent civil disorder is the notion that Americans are appalled by how harshly the President has treated the “mostly peaceful” protesters, but that’s not even close to the truth.

According to the Democracy Institute poll, a plurality of Americans — 45% — believe the president has not been tough enough with the protesters, while only 27% believe he has been too tough. According to a recent Monmouth University poll, meanwhile, only 26% of Americans think the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement is improving race relations in this country, while 38% think BLM is actually making the problem worse.

Most Americans are deeply relieved to see their president protect our country’s history and heritage, despite elaborate media inventions designed to convince them that the thugs who have been assaulting police officers, lighting churches ablaze, and trying to rip down statues of America’s great leaders are actually the freedom fighters.

The reason the left continues to peddle that false narrative should be obvious: the vast majority of Americans stand with our country and our president and against the mob.

President Trump stands with our history, our culture, and our values — and that’s why the Silent Majority will always stand with Donald J. Trump.
